Sian is our audio typist, administration assistant and Personal Protective Equipment Supervisor
Sian joined Brick Tie in Autumn 2012.
Many of the reports and specifications we send out are typed by Sian. She is very friendly and works hard in our Sherburn-in-Elmet office and is up on all the technical jargon needed to type and understand Bryan’s mumbled audio files! Joking apart, we’ve been impressed with how quickly Sian took to her new role; she’s a natural.
Sian is a valuable asset to our team, mark, improving efficiency in the office and offering those who ring us, a warm welcome and friendly service.
Sian trained to carry out Mask Face Fit testing (under the approved Fit2Fit scheme). This is an important role in making sure that the face masks our technicians wear, when spraying woodworm fluid or mixing waterproof render, fit them properly and protect their lungs from harm. Sian tested all our our staff at our last training day and following on from that she has now taken on the role of Personal Protective Equipment supervisor; taking stock of our PPE supplies and recording the issue of PPE to staff.
Sian sat and passed the Property Care Association remedial technicians exams (PCAQT). Preparation for this involved attendance on sites to see for herself, how our teams work on and complete a wide range of projects, including damp proofing, timber treatment and wall tie replacement. Why do this? Because our customers call and email us every day with queries and they need answers – The PCAQT exam ensures that Sian is up to date with the latest technical aspect of what we do and she can answer most technical questions domestic clients have. Of course more advanced queries, from Surveyors, Engineers, Architects and main contractors can be fielded by Bryan and the surveying team – but really, Sian can usually hold her own – she knows her stuff!
Along with other team member, Sian has also attended training and assessment to join the National Professional biocide users register. She now has her ID card as a person professionally assessed as suitable to use treatment chemicals in buildings. That said, it’s unlikely Sian will be visiting your home to spray the woodworm in the attic! He role involves answering customer queries and helping plan work schedules which include chemical use. Therefore it’s crucial she understands the health and safety aspects of the treatment work we do. This ID card demonstrates that she does have that knowledge and Brick-Tie’s team have that skill in-depth, not just on site.
Sian is married with a young son, Tobias, who keeps her very busy!
