Basement Waterproofing & Tanking Existing Basements Leeds and Yorkshire
Basement Waterproofing and ‘Tanking’
The skills required to waterproof rooms below ground level are altogether different from those needed above ground.
Whilst ground water under pressure is the main problem, rising damp and inadequate ventilation are a factor too.
BT Preservation have successfully waterproofed many areas below ground, from a humble play room, to industrial plant rooms, kitchens, class rooms, garages, music rooms and even the bottom of lift shafts. In fact, the principles are always the same; either keep water out (type A tanked protection), render it harmless, by diverting it elsewhere (type C cavity Drain Membranes)….or a combination of the two.
Our CSSW (Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing), qualified surveyors will always treat any below ground structure individually; taking into account technical aspects and most importantly, our customers needs. So instead of selling a solution first, we always ask questions and work back from what the client really wants at the end of the process. “You’ll get what you need, not what we want to sell you”.
There is a British Standard for waterproofing structures below ground (BS8102), however in existing basements this is really a useful guide – not an instruction manual. We know the standards, but we apply them with common sense and are flexible, provided this doesn’t compromise the job.
We are the experts, but we never forget who is employing us – you. We’ll guide you through the options available to deliver your basement project effectively and with good value too.
The array of waterproofing systems is bewildering and the internet is packed with solutions – just ask Google or Jeeves. However, if you’ve better things to do than try to sift through all the companies, products, guarantees, opinions and prices out there, call us and for a small fee, you’ll have your own experienced expert on site, to do all the work for you. “We’ve spent years learning all about it, on the job and in the classroom - we know basements”.
There’s never an obligation to use us, so all you may lose if you don’t award us the work is a small survey fee – and perhaps a little time. But you will know more about waterproofing than you ever did before.
