Below-ground structures are much more vulnerable to the natural direction of water, simply due to the effects of gravity. Wet cellars can be a result of something as simple as a heavy downpour of rain, raising the water table and letting it leak into the lower spaces of your property, the local water table may be ‘perched’ due to the ground conditions, or your cellar may be just acting as a sump for surface water drainage (very common on sloping sites). we have waterproofing solutions for all these situations.

Keeping a cellar or basement dry, when it has been prone to water seepage can be quite a task. There are many dry cellars around, but once water finds its way in, there will always be a tendency for the situation to be repeated, again and again. Simply plugging up a crack or hole may be enough – but not often. Water builds up behind cellar walls and floors via a phenomenon known as hydrostatic pressure. If you stop ground water at one location, it will usually find its way through another.

This is why there are courses and qualifications for basement waterproofing surveyors; the range of situations and repair methods is extensive, so basement waterproofing should only be tackled by qualified and experienced contractors -like us.

Call us on Leeds 265 2752 York 566577 or Sheffield 224 5121 or email us about damp via our contact page if you’d like to learn more about our basement waterproofing services for old or new-builds.

Basement waterproofing systems and qualifications

Basement waterproofing PCA

CSSW qualified and PCA members

Waterproofing existing basements requires skill and diligence from all involved. Let’s face it – if water gets into a completed basement, it’s a bit of a disaster! So it’s important to get the basement waterproofing method specified properly and that’s where our skilled and properly qualified surveyors come in…

The Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW) qualification is the nationally accepted standard to look for, and the letters CSSW tell you that your surveyor has been independently scrutinised and had his knowledge of waterproofing basements validated by detailed examination.

Whether basement waterproofing using membranes, or a ‘tanked’ solution, care in application is crucial too. Our staff (we don’t use contractors!) all have years of training and experience in using Oldroyd Cavity Drain Membrane methods (Type C), Vandex cementitious systems (Type A) and often a combination of both.

We’ve worked on all kinds of below ground areas in Leeds, York, Halifax, Harrogate, Sheffield and throughout Yorkshire over the years, successfully waterproofing garages, store rooms, cinemas, restaurants and kitchens as well as your standard storage cellar!

As members of the Property Care Association’s structural waterproofing section, we offer guarantees which are fully insured via the Guarantee Protection Insurance scheme.

We work for homeowners and often for building contractors, who are converting a basement but require a commercial basement waterproofing expert to assist and guarantee the completed job. In fact the best way of converting a basement is to employ a good architect with a reliable building contractor, helped and assisted by ourselves, acting as the waterproofing design specialist and waterproofing system installer. This means that each element of the project is looked after by the most appropriate specialist.

If you need help or just some friendly advice on basement waterproofing systems, or any aspect of our services, give us a ring on 0800 591541 or drop us a message here.
