Condensation Control Leeds and Yorkshire

Condensation Control

Windows running with water are not too bad, but when it spreads to walls, mould thrives and decorations are ruined. We can help!
Heavy mould growth - Aspergillus niger - this time hidden behind plasterboard in an inadequately waterproofed basement. This mould thrives is moist conditions, damaging decorations and even clothing. Some moulds are implicated in aggravating breathing difficulties like asthma.
A close up of one of our remote data loggers, reading a maximum of 77% Relative Humidity in this case. All of the timed readings this sensor records are downloaded so that the home environment can be analysed. This is particularly useful for landlords and tenants who have unresolved mould growth problems in their property.

This type of damp is the most common problem Yorkshire home owners and tenants suffer from, especially in the winter months. The unsightly mould growth on walls, ceilings, sometimes clothing, can be very upsetting. Customers often ask for quotes for damp proofing work, without realising that no chemical treatments, sealants or ‘waterproof plasters’ are needed.

Condensation can usually be reduced with a few changes to ventilation, heating or insulation - following our surveyor’s advice.

Occasionally, the problem may be severe enough to require direct intervention, with modern ventilation systems designed to lower humidity. Older houses with solid walls, student lets and some flats may be especially prone. Positive Pressure Ventilation is a proven method which we’ve employed with great success in Leeds, York, Harrogate and all over Yorkshire. Used properly, these methods are effective; reducing condensation; eradicating mould problems and ‘freshening’ the air. We have many clients who are delighted at the results. For a detailed ‘real life’ case study see Bryan’s article on his blog.

If you are suffering mould growth problems, damp smells and running windows you can call on our qualified surveyors for advice and assistance, throughout Yorkshire. We also offer remote monitoring of humidity, temperature and dew-point; relevant where detailed reports are required. The information can be uploaded to computer and the results transcribed to a graph to aid diagnosis. This service has assisted local authorities and tenants where mould problems have been resolved.
