Brick-Tie & BT Preservation are delighted to confirm our successful CHAS assessment - at the first attempt!

The Construction Health & Safety Assessment Scheme has been operating for a number of years and since it started Chas's record show that four out of five applicants fail the assessment at the first attempt. So, naturally, we're delighted and proud that we passed our assessment first time.

Looking around at our competitors, we don't see many that have achieved this goal.

Hat's off the, to Katrina Jackson, Julie, and all the staff who've worked so hard to make sure our health & Safety procedures are up to scratch - re-assuring for all employees and clients too.

Participating in the CHAS scheme helps both companies and employers;

  • It makes sure a company is compliant with important parts of health and safety law.
  • It means companies and public/private organisation we deal with do not have to repeat the effort of assessing health and safety compliance of applications; we have already been assessed to CHAS standards.
  • Clients will know we have been and independently assessed and can be assured that we do our best to meet required H&S standards
  • It makes us more attractive to future employees who know we take their safety seriously.
  • It will get rid of inconsistency where some contractors may be judged compliant by one employer but not others.
  • Rough and ready cowboy outfits who do not care about safety cannot get through this rigorous assessment or legally display the CHAS logo.

"Gaining Chas accreditation is something we can be proud of, but health & Safety is an ongoing responsibilty, which has to be at the top of any damp-proofing, timber treatment or wall tie company's agenda - well done everyone" said a beaming Managing Director; Bryan Hindle.

Brick-Tie and BT Preservation appear in Master Builders Magazine

We were honoured recently by The Federation of Master Builders official magazine 'Master Builder'. The efforts we put into training our staff caught their eye and in the light of the recent dour outlook in the building industry, some good news was wanted, to lift the gloomy tone in some publications at the moment.

As part of our ongoing training program, Bryan joined fellow members of the Basement Living Group for a day at Fosroc’s UK manufacturing and R&D centre in Tamworth.

Technical briefings and hands on practice with the latest Fosroc structural waterproofing products enabled everyone to get to grips with these ground breaking materials.

The Proofex Engage and Proofex 3000 materials were applied to mock ups of typical basement details, using Type A Internal and external tanked protection methods.

Radon and Methane gas protection was also dealt with, using the foil backed Proofex 3000MR and Engage, both of which have BBA accreditation.

Keith Gordon of Fosroc was on hand, providing technical information with Alan Clayton passing on 29 years of hands on experience too.

This is the first of a series of such days, aimed at improving Bryan’s Continuing Professional Development. Regarding Fosroc’s waterproofing products.

The entire range of Fosroc waterproofing materials is available for expert application by BT Preservation.
